Since 1956, Warszawska Jesień, literally ‘Warsaw Autumn', the international festival of contemporary music, has been held in the Polish capital each year. The symphonic and chamber music shows and other events that include experimental music allow the public to hear both the newer and older works of the composers of our time.
Organized by the Association of Polish Composers, the festival is held in various venues in Warsaw: the Warsaw Philharmonic, the Witold Lutoslawski Polish Radio Concert Studio at the University of Music, and at Zacheta, the Centre of Contemporary Art. The guest of honour at the 59th edition will be Salvatore Sciarrino, who will present two operas and many instrumental works, including one that will close the event: Shadow of Sound. Around Sciarrino, the public will be happy to listen to many artists and groups—GrauSchumacher Piano Duo, Spoldzielnia Muzyczna, Scenatet—and talented composers such as Mark Andre, Marcin Bortnowski, Ondrej Adámek, Brigitta Muntendorf, and Zofia Dowgiallo.
