The gigantic King Abdullah I Mosque can hold nearly 7,000 faithful between its walls and 3,000 pilgrims in it courtyard. It is recognisable from afar because of its beautiful 35-metres-in-diameter blue mosaic dome on top of the prayer hall. A true architectural feat in a contemporary style, it definitely deserves a visit.
It's also one of the few places of Muslim worship open to non-Muslims. Of course, avoid Friday prayer times and respect the rules, such as removing shoes before entering. Women must cover their hair, arms, and legs: black scarves and long dark coats are available at the entrance to the mosque.
