With its art museum, opened in 2006, set on the seashore, Boston has become one of the great centres of contemporary art. Its avant-garde architecture provides a backdrop to current talent through thematic and specialised exhibitions. Gillian Wearing is thus one of the guests of honour of the Institute of Contemporary Art. Winner of the Turner Prize in 1997, this English artist handles installations, photography, and video with sensitivity to build a conceptual work, which will be exhibited for the first time in Boston. Through portraits and self-portraits, Gillian Wearing reveals a world that explores the complexity of identity.
