Oslo, nature comes to the city

Located on the banks of the largest fjord in Norway, with its calm waters, Oslo offers a perfect balance between Nordic cheer and romantic melancholy. Set out to explore the many charms of this quiet capital. When you book a flight to Oslo, you're on your way to discovering the beautiful natural landscapes of this capital, which feels a little like the countryside.

A walk down Karl Johans gate is the first step in your journey after the arrival of your flight to Oslo. The city's main street is lined with monuments, including the Royal Palace, where the traditional changing of the guards takes place daily at 1:30pm. The Fine Arts Museum houses an expansive collection of works by some of the most iconic romantic painters such as Tidemand and Dahl. Oslo's town hall is adorned with murals depicting the history of Norway. Within the city's cathedral, you'll find a pulpit, altar and organ case decorated with acanthus leaves and dating from 1697. The massive, 700-year-old Akershus Fortress, from atop its boulder, offers a magnificent view over the port.

Take advantage of your flight to Oslo to browse the galleries of the Astrup-Fearnley Museum, with its prestigious private collection. Next, enjoy a stroll through Frogner Park. Once privately owned, this public park is particularly beloved by the locals and is home to several sculptures by Vigeland. Still on foot, let the energy of the city take you all the way to the Oslo Opera, with its ultra-modern architecture. One can even climb to the roof of the building to take in the view over the fjord: a wonderful sight to behold !

To honor this nation of sailors and explorers, visit the Vikingskipsmuseet, which houses three dark-colored, enormous ships dating from around 1 000 years ago. A cruise in the Oslo Fjord, which takes you from island to island and lets passengers hop on and off at each stop, is still one of the best ways to explore this distinctive city.
