The SSL server software scrambles (or “encrypts”) the information you enter (bank details, address, etc.), using algorithms before it is sent over the Internet. Once it is encrypted, this information remains scrambled while it is sent over the web. It can only be read by our server, using a unique decryption key.

The encryption is carried out using SSL 3.0 RC4, RSA 128-bit security keys, with 512-bit exchange: this version of the SSL protocol currently offers the highest level of security.

You can rest assured that you are purchasing your ticket completely confidentially and safely.

When you create an account, you must choose a log-in name and password that will be requested should you wish to modify personal account data. Your profile and data are password-protected in such a way that you and you alone may access this personal information. We recommend that you do not disclose your log-in and password to anyone. You alone are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your passwords and/or any information relating to your profile.

In addition, you must make sure you log out of your profile and close the browser window once you have completed your session, particularly if you use a workstation that is shared with others for internet access. By doing this, you can ensure that no other users access your personal information.

The Air France internet information system is registered with the CNIL (French National IT and Freedom Commission) under receipt no. 661 129, version 1.

In accordance with the amended law dated January 6, 1978, relating to information systems, records and freedoms (articles 39 and 40), you have the right to access, modify, and retract any data held about yourself.

Personal information collected on this site

Air France collects several types of information via its various online services. Air France does its utmost to protect the personal information that you communicate to us. Consequently, we commit to respecting the confidentiality of all data transmitted. At all times, you remain in complete control of the information about you. Should you delete your profile, you will no longer be able to access password-protected online information services.

The choices you make and the information we hold allow us to get to know you better and therefore to better meet your expectations.

The information we request on our site may include the following:

- your civil status (marital status, first and last names, date of birth, postal address, telephone)

- your postal delivery address, if need be.

- your e-mail address (personal or work) which is useful if we need to send you a booking confirmation, for any correspondence or subscription to a specific service, or to recover a forgotten password or log-in name.

- your passport number and your nationality

- your favorite shortcuts on the Air France site

- your preferences about the way you wish to collect tickets purchased on-line (Note: we do not retain your payment data in our files: bank card type, card number, validity or holder first name/last name).

- your trip preferences (favorite destinations, frequently used departure airports)

We also retain:

- a personal booking and purchase history, site pages you have visited as well as the type of browser you use.
- e-mail correspondence: the contents of your e-mails to us, your address and our replies

The information collected may be used for promotional, commercial communications or information purposes by Air France or one of it its subsidiaries, via various media.

We may use this data in order to conduct studies designed to improve our services.

In exceptional circumstances, Air France may be legally bound to transmit confidential information required to identify, arrest or prosecute any individual liable to cause harm or prejudice, whether intentionally or not:

- to Air France´s property or rights

- to other users of the Air France site

- to any other person who may be adversely affected by such activities.

Air France may therefore transmit personal data when it is legally bound to do so, following the instigation of legal proceedings, for example.

To safeguard air safety and protect national security, several countries require international air carriers to provide them with comprehensive or partial information regarding their passengers.

Data is forwarded to the appropriate authorities regardless of the point of sale or method of ticket reservation. Companies failing to comply with these nationally-established requirements face heavy sanctions.

AIR FRANCE is dedicated to securing and protecting its customers´ personal data in accordance with French and European legal norms. A certain amount of data is compulsory for the booking of flights and ticket issuance. Under the law, customers may exercise a right to oppose the transfer of personal data. Exercising of this right may lead to cancellation of their trip or of at least some of the services requested (for example special dietary requirements).

Air France hereby gives notice that certain personal data, submitted by the client during ticket reservation, will be transmitted to destination-country authorities.

Air France reminds its passengers that a certain amount of data is required for the booking of flights and ticket issuance.
